Friendship feast marks Brigade handover in Helmand
October 10th
The formal transfer of authority for British military operations in Helmand province has taken place, with 16 Air Assault Brigade succeeding 4th Mechanized Brigade. From today, Brigadier James Chiswell MC takes charge of Task Force Helmand.
Sergeant Peter Rayner, 2 LANCS, killed in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Defence confirms that Sergeant Peter Anthony Rayner of 2nd Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, 'Lions of England', Theatre Reserve Battalion, was killed in Afghanistan on Friday 8 October 2010.
David Bailey visits troops in Camp Bastion

David Bailey, one of the world's best known photographers, has been to Afghanistan recently to photograph the daily life of the UK's troops in and around Camp Bastion.
Vikings and their families look forward to new homes

Royal Anglian Regiment soldiers have learned they are going to benefit from 260 new homes which are going to be built at Bulford, Wiltshire, for 1st Battalion troops - the Vikings - and their families.
Danish chief visits UK advisors in Helmand

Danish Chief of Army Operational Command, Major-General Agner Rokos, has visited the Camp Shorabak home of 3rd Brigade of 215 Corps (3/215 Bde) Afghan National Army (ANA) and met with their mentors from 1st Battalion Irish Guards.
Gunners learn fighting-vehicle skills on Dorset ranges

Major James Cripps from the Queens Royal Lancers talks about benefits of the Defence Training Estate ranges at Lulworth in Dorset, which provides gunnery range facilities for crews operating Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) to train.
TA soldiers return to Glasgow from Helmand
October 6th
Fourteen TA Infantry soldiers were welcomed home to Glasgow yesterday by their families and members of their Regiment following a six-month tour of Afghanistan. The troops from 6 SCOTS and 7 SCOTS have been serving with the Royal Scots Borderers (1 SCOTS)
Infantry training school aims to refine Afghan soldiers' skills

British Armed Forces, admired world-wide for their infantry skills and professionalism, have created an Infantry Branch School outside Kabul, in partnership with the Afghan National Army to further develop Afghan troops' infantry skills.
